Obituary: Virginia S. (Quintal) Sullivan; Many North Andover "Townies" Knew Her as a Familiar Face in the Town Hall

Mother of 10 children and grandmother to 33 grandchildren.

Virginia S. (Quintal) Sullivan passed away at her home surrounded by many loving family members. She was a lifelong daily Communicant and had received the Sacrament of Anointing.

Virginia was a member of the Greatest Generation and belonged to one of the greatest families that that generation produced. She was one of 15 children born to Narcisse and Bertha Quintal of Lawrence. She attended St. Anne High School and enjoyed dancing and other social activities with many good friends, as she lived through the Great Depression and World War II.

Virginia worked in the Arlington Mill before marrying Andrew J. Sullivan Jr., of Lawrence. Together they had ten children and 33 grandchildren.

The Sullivans raised their family in North Andover, and Virginia worked at various part time jobs in addition to her main role as homemaker. She later reentered the workforce full time in administrative positions, first for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and then for the Town of North Andover, where she made many acquaintances with both coworkers and residents.

Many North Andover “townies” knew her as a familiar face in the Town Hall, where she loved her work and cherished the friendships she gained there.

Virginia leaves behind 10 children: Virginia and David Scanlon of North Andover; Andrew J. III and Jacqueline Sullivan of North Andover; Trudy and Philip D’Agostino of Salem, New Hampshire; William and Ellen Sullivan of Nashua, New Hampshire; Edward and Maureen Sullivan of North Andover; Rita and John Duffy of Taunton; Gilbert and Shirley Sullivan of Haverhill; Elizabeth and Buddy Lampros of Acton; Ken and Jean Sullivan of Methuen; and Andrea and John Persico of Haverhill. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, five siblings, nieces and nephews.

Virginia frequently requested that her friends and family remember her with prayer and memorial Masses and thanked all in advance for that kindness.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 29th at 10AM in St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover. Interment will be private. Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 in the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover.
