24-Year-Old Lawrence Woman Killed In Early Morning Lawrence Crash

There was a two-car crash at the intersection of Winthrop Avenue and South Union Street around 12:23 a.m. Thursday, police said.

LAWRENCE, MA — One person was killed and four others were seriously injured in an early morning crash in Lawrence Thursday.

A 24-year-old Lawrence woman was killed, the Essex district attorney's spokeswoman said. Her identity will be released Friday after the family has been notified, the spokeswoman said.

There was a two-car crash around 12:23 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Winthrop Avenue and South Union Street, Lawrence police said.

The Lawrence woman was pronounced dead at the crash site. The driver of the car she was in, a 20-year-old Lawrence woman, is in critical condition.

The other car's driver and two passengers are all men and are still alive, the spokeswoman said. She had no other information about them as of Thursday afternoon.

Lawrence and state police and the Essex District Attorney's Office are investigating the crash.

No charges have been issued.

The district attorney's office initially said the woman who was killed was driving. She was a passenger. This story has been updated.
