Over 10 Percent Of North Andover Residents Fully Vaccinated

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Twenty-four percent of the town's 30,000 residents have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to new state data released Thursday.

The statewide figure is 22 percent.

The state's vaccine rollout prioritizing the most vulnerable residents is bearing fruit in North Andover, where those 65 or older have received the majority of vaccinations. Eighty-six percent of those 75 or older have received at least one dose and 63 percent of them are fully vaccinated.

Sixty-five percent of those 65-74 have received at least one dose while 13 percent are fully vaccinated.

Overall, 7,132 of 30,288 residents in North Andover have received at least one dose and 3,558 are fully vaccinated — 12 percent of the population.

The data also includes vaccination rates by race, ethnicity and sex for each city and town, as well as by zip code.

In North Andover, among those vaccinated with known race and ethnicity, White residents have been vaccinated at the highest rate: 11 percent. Just 4 percent of Hispanic and Asian residents have been fully vaccinated; 10 percent of Black and 8 percent of multi-racial residents have.

Race and ethnicity information is unavailable for more than 14 percent of the town's vaccinated people.

The Department of Public Health also released town-by-town coronavirus metrics, which showed continued low levels in North Andover. The positive test rate remained at 0.89 percent.
