Town Employees Donate $1K to 'Tommy Strong'
The money will help Tommy Cox's family as they transition the 10-year-old boy home.

North Andover town employees have pooled their and donated $1,000 for the "Tommy Strong Fund."
The fund is raising money for the family of Tommy Cox, age 10, who lost one leg and severely injured his other leg in a boating accident on Lake Winnipesaukee on Sept. 5.
Tommy will be transferred from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire to Spaulding Rehab in Boston. And when he comes home, his family will have to remodel their home to accommodate his needs.
So Town Manager Andrew Maylor rallyied town employees to donate by offering to let them wear sports shirts and jeans to work one day.

"It was very humbling to Tommy's parents, they are overwhelmed," Selectman Tracy Watson, a family friend helping the Tommy Strong effort, said. "It makes me grateful every day to live in North Andover. From tragedy always comes goodness, and we most certainly have seen that in this terrible situation."
