ICYMI: Wynn Resorts To Incorporate Advanced Green Initiatives

Wynn announced on Wednesday morning that the $1.7 billion Wynn Resort in Everett will exceed state regulatory requirements for environmental sustainability and feature advanced green initiatives, including the use of solar power and rainwater harvesting.

Wynn Seeks Proposals and Bids For Design and Construction Services For Everett Resort

Along with transforming a contaminated 33-acre former chemical plant site into a five-star destination resort with a lush waterfront park that is accessible to the public, the Wynn Resort in Everett will be designed to achieve a Gold or higher LEED ranking, according to company officials.

The land remediation will advance the ongoing cleanup of the Mystic River and the resort will be one of the most environmentally friendly developments in the region with on-site efficiencies that include:

• Solar Power Generation—Onsite solar power and purchased renewable energy will provide 10% of the resort’s electrical needs.
• State-Of-The-Art Power Plant—Wynn’s advanced power plant will efficiently generate 20% of the resort’s electricity while also supplying hot water and heat for hotel and kitchen use, saving energy and reducing greenhouse gases.
• Rainwater Harvesting—Roof runoff will be the exclusive source of irrigation for the six-plus acres of lavish greenspace.

Wynn Everett is a proposed $1.7 billion project that will include a five-star resort with more than 600 hotel rooms, high-end spa, retail, dining, ballroom and meeting space. Situated on 33 acres along the Mystic River, the site will allow for public enjoyment of the waterfront with paths that provide access to the harbor and retail and dining experiences that overlook the river walk. The resort will generate more than 4,000 construction jobs, more than 4,000 permanent jobs with excellent salaries and benefits and approximately $260 million in annual tax revenue to the state.
