Norton To Address New 'Dirty' Water Issues

Water officials said on Wednesday that hydrants will be run at a low flow until the water clears.

NORTON, MA — Norton water officials the town's new normal water flow rate has caused changes in water mains that have resulted in "dirty water" calls throughout town. Official said some of those calls have come from areas of town that do not typically report water issues.

Officials said each call is being addressed and that hydrants will be run at low flow until water clears.

"We have not begun our spring flushing program, right now we are responding to calls and addressing each area as needed," officials said. "We are receiving a higher volume of calls with everyone sheltered at home, typically we would have time to flush a disturbance before multiple residents noticed it. If calls are received from the same area, we can clear the area by flushing one hydrant even if it is not directly in front of their residence they are calling from. Customers are being made aware when they call if we already have technicians currently out in that area."
