NORTON, MA — Norton residents spend the day picking up branches, tree limbs, and in some instances watching crews clean up full trees and utility poles, after Tropical Storm Isaias caused damage as it raced through New England on Tuesday.

"Norton Fire Responded to 21 calls for service during the height of yesterday's storm in just over six hours," Norton fire said on Wednesday. "National Grid and Norton Highway are working diligently to reopen streets and restore power."

About 121 customers in town remained without power late Wednesday afternoon. There were 87,879 customers without power statewide as of about 5 p.m. after the number topped out at near 200,000 Tuesday night.

Road closures or partial closures due to downed trees on Tuesday included Patten Road, Parker Street and Crane Street.

"Thank you for staying home and allowing crews to work safely," Norton fire said.

Oak Street was among the areas that saw damage on Tuesday.
