Norton Dog Licenses Now Available For Purchase Online

A veterinarian's certificate confirming a rabies vaccine is required for all dogs in Norton.

NORTON, MA — Norton is now offering on-line dog licensing for one year. The license for two and three years are available through town hall or through paying through the mail.

All dogs in town must be licensed annually once the dog reaches six months old or within 30 days of arrival in town. Veterinarian confirmation of rabies protection is required by law. Dogs that have rabies vaccinations on file, but which are not licensed each year, will be addressed a $50 citation.

The annual licensing period runs through the calendar year 2020, but longer licenses can now be purchased to cover the duration of the rabies license. The fee for licenses is $10 per dog per year for those spayed or neutered, and $15 for dogs not spayed or neutered. Fees are not prorated. There is a $5 late fee for those licenses applied for after March 1 with a $1 additional fee per month. Licenses not renewed by June 1 are also subject to a $50 citation.

If you no longer own a dog, you must notify the town clerk's office to avoid future notices and late fees. Call 508-285-0230 or send an email with the owner's name and address, dog's name and breed, and indicate you no longer own this dog.

Those with four dogs or more must apply for a kennel license and confirm with the building inspector's officer that the residence is zoned for where kennel licenses are permitted.
