NORTON, MA — Norton's annual Founders Day celebration has been canceled due to the new coronavirus health emergency.

Norton Parks & Recreation said the fireworks and family fun event was canceled due to the state's limits on social gatherings and a lack of funding due to low contributions.

The event was scheduled for June 13 with a rain date scheduled for June 20.

The Parks & Recreation said the hope is to host some type of a town-wide celebration "when this is all over."
