Norton High School DECA Attends Virtual State Career Development Conference
Thirty-five Norton High School students participated in the 62nd Annual DECA State Career Development Conference.

Thirty-five Norton High School (NHS) students participated in the 62nd Annual DECA State Career Development Conference held virtually March 1-18. They were accompanied by NHS DECA advisors Heather Albritton, Rachel Pilotte, and Jennifer Skowronek.

The Massachusetts State Career Development Conference is the pinnacle of the DECA year. Filled with competition and leadership activities, there is also plenty of entertainment which gets planned into the multi-day conference, such as keynote speakers and various performances. Participating members competed in either a series or team decision making events, consisting of an unprepared role-play and a written exam, or a written project that will be 10-20 pages depending on the category. Approximately 200 judges comprising of community and business volunteers contribute their time to make the days a success.
The following students qualified for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) which will take place virtually April 19–23: Ashlyn Sylvia (1st place - Business Services Marketing), Abigail Leo (3rd place - Automotive Services Marketing), Brooke Dennett (4th place - Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling Event), and Skye Goba (5th place - Quick Service Restaurant Management).

The following Norton DECA students received Top 10 State Awards in their categories: Brooke Dennett (Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling Event), Kiera Dooley (Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling Event), Skye Goba (Quick Service Restaurant Management), Abigail Leo (Automotive Services Marketing), Lily Newell (Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling Event), Karalyn Powers (Principles of Hospitality and Tourism), and Ashlyn Sylvia (Business Services Marketing).
