Norton Monday Essentials: School Year Getting Close

1. The first school committee meeting of the new school year will be held tonight at the Superintendent's Conference Room at 6:30 p.m. Click here for an agenda.

2.  Norton selectmen are looking to fill a vacancy on the Norton Housing Authority. Interested parties should submit a letter of interest to the selectmen prior to Aug. 3<span class="_wysihtml5-temp-placeholder"></span>0. The appointment would only be effective until the town election in April 2014.

3. Norton Town Meeting Set for Oct. 7
Norton has scheduled its Fall Annual Town Meeting for Monday, Oct. 7, at the Norton Middle School at 7 p.m. The deadline for placing warrant articles will be Aug. 19, until 3:30 p.m. at the selectmen's office.

4. The Norton Kayak Company is hosting a fishing tour today at 8:30 a.m. In addition to learning valuable water safety skills and paddling technique from an American Canoe and Kayak Association certified instructor, kids will fish every day for largemouth bass and pickerel.Program is limited to 8 paddlers, ages ten to 16 years. $150 per child * All fishing gear provided.

5. The Deutsche Bank Championship is looking for volunteers to work during the tournament at TPC-Boston in Norton. You can sign up for the tournament by visiting their website at www.dbcchampionship.com or call them at 508-285-8333.
