Norton Police Identify Driver of Car that Left Crash Scene

A driver who left the scene of a car crash on Thursday night was able to be indentified by Norton Police officers who responded to the scene.

Norton Police have been able to identify the driver of a black Mercedes that fled the scene of a two-car crash on Thursday night.

Richard Schneider, 42, who has addresses in Raynham and Taunton, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage and will appear in Attleboro District Court.

The crash occured at about 10:30 p.m. in the vicinity of 29 Mansfield Ave. No one was injured, but when officers arrived they discovered that one of the vehicles had fled the scene.

Among the debris that the fleeing vehicle left behind was its front license plate, and Patrolmen Bryan King and James Cameron were able to use the license plate to identify the driver, according to Lt. Todd Jackson.
