Norton Police Personnel Credited With Helping Elderly Resident
A Norton police officer and dispatcher paid for an extended-stay room for a resident whose home was in disrepair.
NORTON, MA — A pair of Norton police officers are credited with going well above and beyond the call of duty this week after they arranged to pay for an extended-stay room for an elderly Norton resident whose home was in disrepair.
Norton police said that Officer Sean Worrall and Officer Kevin Schleicher responded to a well-being check for a resident who has lived in the town for more than 50 years. The man is a recent cancer survivor and had some basic utilities not working.
When the resident said he had no close family to stay with, Dispatcher Mandi Goodwin and Worrall arranged to split the cost of two rooms at a local extended-stay until arrangements could be made for more permanent housing.
