Norton Skilled Nursing Home To Close
Wingate at Norton will be turned into an assisted living facility.
NORTON, MA—Wingate at Norton, the town's only skilled care nursing home, has announced it will be closing by early next year and turned into an assisted living facility.
Wingate Healthcare in Needham has filed an application with the state’s Department of Public Health to close the Norton nursing home and is currently helping patients find new accommodations.
“The building is nearing the end of its useful life and will be sold to an assisted living operator, who is expected to make significant investments into the building infrastructure and re-open as an expanded assisted living facility,” the company said in a statement on November 24.

The new owner of the 184 Mansfield Ave. property will be LCB Assisted Living in Norwood. Wingate Residences at Norton, an assisted living facility on the same campus as the nursing home, will remain open and its apartments will be transferred to LCB Senior Living in the next few months.
“We will work with each of the residents and their families through this transition to ensure their safe and comfortable relocation. Wingate is also working closely with its staff to relocate them to Wingate nursing homes or other facilities in the area,” the company said.
