Personal Best students donate 1400 pounds of candy to veterans
Norton VFW Post 8049 receive over 1400 pounds of candy collected from Personal Best Karate schools.

When families at Personal Best Karate want to give to the veterans, they go all out. This time of year, the cause was to donate Halloween candy to the veterans and troops. And by all out – it was as if each student brought in over a pound of candy personally.
In total, all six Personal Best Karate schools’ families donated 1,410 pounds of candy to the Norton VFW Post 8049 organization. Club Manager and Sr. Vice Commander Gary Cameron expressed gratitude for the donation and was excited to share with the troops and veterans. “We take care of our veterans and our troops overseas,” said Cameron. “We honor those who have done so much for our country.”
“We were proud to get behind this effort,” said Personal Best Karate school founder Christopher Rappold. “The troops and veterans received a small gift to remind them of the love, appreciation and support. The generosity of the Personal Best families and what our culture stands for runs very deep.” Families also made cards to send along to the troops, as well as thank you letters to the veterans.

Personal Best Karate student Carolyn Kenney said her family was excited to help the cause. “My children said they knew the [troops] didn’t get a lot of ‘treats’ even though they were protecting us, and wanted to donate,” she explained.
Cameron appreciates all the support. “We thank all those who donated. We are happy to pass the candy along to everyone,” he said. The Norton VFW continues to have events monthly at their location at 38 Summer Street, all are open to the public. Their next event includes their second annual Christmas party for local children, where some of the candy will be given to those underprivileged families. Updates on their events can be found at www.nortonvfw.org.
