TAUNTON, MA — What might have been a minor frustration turned into a boon for Taunton resident Peter Levesque recently, when he stopped at a gas station and won a $10 million prize from the Massachusetts State Lottery. Levesque was on his way home for lunch, when road closures forced him to take a detour through Raynham. That's where he stopped at a gas station, and bought a Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$10,000,000 BigMoney” instant game ticket—and won the big money.

Levesque chose the cash option on his prize, and received a $6.5 million lump sum, before taxes. He plans to use the money to build or buy a new house, according to the Lottery.

Levesque purchased his winning ticket at Stop N Go Express, 593 Broadway in Raynham, which will receive a $50,000 bonus for its sale of the ticket. Two additional $10,000,000 prizes and four $1 million prizes are still available in the $20 game.
