Thundersnow Forecast for Norton This Weekend
It's not an April Fools' joke: thundersnow is in the forecast for Norton this weekend.

NORTON, MA — No, it's not an April Fools' joke—thundersnow is indeed in the forecast for Norton this weekend.
An arctic blast will hit the region Saturday night and bring two rounds of snow, according to the National Weather Service.
"Late Saturday ... a period of snow is likely and may be heavy for a time along with the risk of thundersnow," NWS said.

Thundersnow is rare phenomenon for New England. It happens when the air is below freezing near the ground and it produces shallow lightning close to the ground.

Snow accumulation for Norton Saturday and Sunday is expected to be a few inches, NWS said.
Another round of snow is forecast for Monday.
