3 Businesses Warned Following Failed Liquor License Test
Tuesday night, the board issued written warnings to three businesses.

NORWOOD, MA — Three businesses have received warnings after admitting to selling alcohol to an underage operative.
Tuesday night, the Norwood Board of Selectmen issued written warnings to Norwood Wines and Liquor on Nahatan Street, Hibachi Steak House on Morse Street and Outback Steakhouse on Route 1. All three failed a Sept. 7 liquor license compliance check by the Norwood Police Department.
In all three cases, the violation was the same - allowing an underage person to buy alcohol. In the sting, an underage operative walked into the restaurant or store and asked to buy a drink. In those three cases, the operative was able to successfully purchase a beverage.

The businesses were warned beforehand that a compliance check was on the way, with Selectman Paul Bishop comparing to having the answers to a test and still failing.
Representatives from Norwood Wines and Liquor and Outback Steakhouse said they are making efforts to take refresher courses and provide new training so another violation does not happen.

“This should be used as a learning tool. I hope everyone is TIPS trained and they learn from this,” Selectman Allan Howard said.
The board chose to go with a written warning because the businesses had no violations from the past 10 years.
Six more establishments that failed the check are scheduled to go in front of the board on later dates.
