Five Things You Need to Know This Weekend: Halloween Spooktacular, 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks' and More

1. Head to the Norwood Recreation Department's Halloween Spooktacular this Saturday. Enjoy games, a DJ, the Costume Parade, snacks, face painting, and more from 3-4:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per resident.

2. Bring your families to The Norwood Theatre to see the classic Disney film, "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" this weekend, starring Angela Lansbury and David Tomilson. A great movie for the Halloween season and is sure to be a hit with the whole family. Tickets will be $8 for adults & $6 for children and seniors. Showtimes are Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., and Sat. and Sun., Oct. 27-28 at 2 p.m. Tickets will not be available for pre-sale and can be purchased at the box office on the day of the show.

3. The Norwood Backstage Boosters is proud to present the sixth annual “Fantasy Footsteps,” a storybook tour for youngsters and grown-ups alike, this Friday and Saturday, at the Savage Center. Groups will be led on a guided tour through sparkling corridors where audiences will be treated to magical moments with many of their favorite fairy tales. These individual scenes will be performed by Norwood students, and is written and directed by Dean Calusdian. Children are welcome to wear their costumes. Tickets are $5, and $4 for seniors and children ages under 5, and will be sold at the door. Call (781) 769-5021 if you have any questions.

4. All are welcome to the Norwood Bank sponsored Community Shred Day on Saturday, Oct. 27. The public is invited to bring up to two boxes of paper contents, including old bank statements, cancelled or unused checks, and other confidential documents to be shredded on site to help protect against identity theft.

5. The Hidden Hotel, located at 95 Washington St. in Canton, will be open this weekend for haunted fun. The tale goes that the hotel was once the setting for society’s most glamorous social affairs and home to some the area's wealthiest residents. That all changed one stormy night when one of the hotel's guest was found murdered and his daughter vanished. Now the decrepit hotel stands in ruins, haunted by what happened that stormy night many years ago. Price of admission is $18 per person. A portion of The Hidden Hotel proceeds will benefit Cops For Kids With Cancer.
