Forum To Discuss Proposed Norwood HS Move to Tri-Valley League Set For Monday

The athletic department will hold the forum Monday night at Norwood High School.

NORWOOD, MA — Residents will have a chance to discuss a proposal that would see Norwood High School leaving the Bay State Conference to the Tri-Valley League.

The high school's athletic department will host a community forum on June 12 at 6 p.m. in the Norwood High School auditorium. Current and possible future league affiliations will be discussed.

Citing a competitive gap and the challenge of facing schools with larger enrollments, Jonathan Longley said at a recent school committee meeting that the school is simply outmatched against schools like Natick, Wellesley, Needham, and Newton North. With Dedham's departure to the Tri-Valley League, Norwood is the smallest school in the Bay State Conference If the school moves, they will be among the larger schools in the league.

The school committee will vote on letting Longley move forward with an application for Tri-Valley League membership on June 21. The vote and application do not guarantee entry into the Tri-Valley League.
