Norwood Could Still Get Hockey Rink

NORWOOD, MA — Despite reports to the contrary, a new ice rink in Norwood is still possible.
The town is scheduled to meet with the Department of Conservation and Recreation July 18 to learn what the state will offer as part of the effort to bring a rink to town.
While rumors indicated that Canton would be the recipient of a new rink, the final location, if there is a new rink, has not been determined.

Charles Aspinwall, the Canton Town Administrator, told the Norwood Transcript and Bulletin that there is no DCR funding involved with the project, with the department notifying officials from both towns that their capital plan for Fiscal Year 2018 does not have funding.
DCR Spokespeson Mark Steffan said other groups may contribute to the project.
