Norwood HS Just Outside Top 90 In 2018 Boston Magazine Rankings
The top 150 high schools from inside I-495 were ranked in the newest Boston Magazine.

NORWOOD, MA — There are a lot of 'Best Of' lists when it comes to schools and colleges, but precious few of them come from within Massachusetts. The recent edition of Boston Magazine fixed that, listing the top 150 public high schools from inside(ish) I-495.
Norwood High School placed 92nd on this year's list. Here are their stats:
- Enrollment - 958 students
- Average Class Size - 14.8 students
- Student-to-Teacher Ratio - 13.7
- 10th Graders Scoring Proficient or Higher on MCAS: Reading - 92 percent
- 10th Graders Scoring Proficient or Higher on MCAS: Math - 81 percent
- 10th Graders Scoring Proficient or Higher on MCAS: Science - 87 percent
- Average SAT Scores: Reading/Writing - 556
- Average SAT Scores: Math - 546
- Advanced Placement: Proficient - 55.7 percent
- Graduation Rate - 89.5 percent
- Attending College - 80.5 percent
- Educator Evaluations: Proficient - 92.1 percent
- Educator Evaluations: Exemplary - 7.9 percent
- Educator Evaluations: Combined - 100 percent
So how did Boston Magazine get here? It's important to note only schools in towns or districts at least partially within I-495 were considered. The data was taken from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education. When data wasn't available, Boston Magazine used last year's data. Schools that reported insufficient information or that were highly specialized were disregarded.

The rankings come from a formula using all the data, with smaller class size and lower student-teacher ratio given preference.
