The Norwood Mustang Marching Band is Competing-- and Winning!
Starting their season off earlier than ever, The Norwood Mustang Marching Band has already taken 1st Place two times.
The Norwood Mustang Marching Band’s competition season has begun! The band competed in a NESBA (New England Scholastic Band Association) competition at Medford in September, bringing home 1st Place as well as high caption awards for the Best Music, the Best Percussion, and the Best Color Guard. This past weekend, the Band also competed in NESBA Melrose, where they were thrilled to once again take home 1st Place as well as the high caption awards for Best Music, Best Percussion, and Best Color Guard. The 56-member band and color guard are composed of students in Norwood Public Schools grades 8-12.
The Band is directed by Mr. Steven Conant. The Marching Band and Color Guard Staff include: Mr. Sean Lee, Mr. Tim MacDonald, Mr. Michael Lombo, Mr. Matt Cavanaugh, Ms. Katherine Dimitriou, Ms. Courtney Schick, Mr. Joe Boulos, Ms. Jamie O’Brien, and Ms. Carly Sheehan.
You’ll have your chance to see the Band’s magical show, Black Swan, at Norwood High School on Sunday, October 21st! Norwood will be hosting a branch of the MICCA (Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association) competition, welcoming 12 high school bands and a special guest, the marching band from the University of New Hampshire. These students work hard for their successes and they would love your support! Bands will be performing 1pm-5pm; Norwood will be performing at 4pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students/seniors.
