The Norwood Mustang Marching Band Wins 1st Place at Championships

After an undefeated season, the Norwood Mustang Marching Band took 1st Place at NESBA Championships.

The Norwood Mustang Marching Band competed at NESBA (New England Scholastic Band Association) Championships held in Lawrence. The band won 1st Place, making them the 2018 NESBA Division III Champions for the second year in a row! They earned a Platinum medal as well as the High Caption Awards for Best Music, Best Percussion, and Best Color Guard.

This year 10 bands competed in Division III, making it the largest division of the competition, with Norwood coming out on top. This win caps off their undefeated season. Norwood competed at 6 shows this year, each time taking home 1st Place as well as High Caption awards for Best Music, Best Percussion, and Best Color Guard. The musicians recognize that these significant accolades are earned through hard work, dedication, and practice time. This season the band practiced together for over 180 hours, attended a week of Music Camp in Maine, and each member took individual instrumental lessons. The 56-member band and color guard are composed of students in Norwood Public Schools grades 8-12.

The Band is directed by Mr. Steven Conant. The Marching Band and Color Guard Staff include: Mr. Sean Lee, Mr. Tim MacDonald, Mr. Michael Lombo, Mr. Matt Cavanaugh, Ms. Maura McGillicuddy, Ms. Katherine Dimitriou, Ms. Courtney Schick, Mr. Joe Boulos, Ms. Jamie O’Brien, Mr. Aaron Couto, and Ms. Carly Sheehan.
