Norwood Nurses Set To Support Zoning For Hospital Restoration
Norwood nurses from the hospital's union will speak at Town Meeting to support a zoning ordinance that will allow for hospital restoration.
NORWOOD, MA — Norwood nurses in the Massachusetts Nurse Association are set to voice their support at Town Meeting for a zoning ordinance that would allow for the restoration of Norwood Hospital.
Norwood will hold its Town Meeting on Thursday over Zoom. The zoning changes being discussed at the meeting would allow for restoration of the hospital, and also would provide opportunities for potential improvements to the facility to meet the needs of the community.
Norwood Hospital has been closed for more than seven months after severe flooding damaged the facility. The 450 nurses at the hospital have been dispersed to other hospitals in the region.

“Norwood Hospital is a vital resource that must be restored as soon as possible to protect the health and safety of all the residents in Norwood and surrounding communities,” said Kathy Reardon, RN, an ED nurse at the hospital, and co-chair of the nurses local bargaining unit with the Massachusetts Nurses Association. “Every day this community goes without this facility, another one of our residents’ lives is placed in jeopardy, as they must travel farther and wait longer for the live saving care we provide.”
