Norwood PD Investigate New Year's Day Shooting

NORWOOD, MA — Norwood police are investigating a shooting that happened on New Year's Day at the Commons at Windsor Gardens apartment complex. A 24-year-old man was shot several times on a third floor balcony but survived.

The shooting happened just after noon on Friday at a building in the complex on Landsdowne Way. When police got to the scene, they found a man on the third floor balcony who had been shot several times. Officers carried the man down the fire escape to an ambulance.

Police said the man is expected to survive.

No suspects were arrested, although police did temporarily detain people at the scene. The gun has not been found.

Preliminary indications are that this was not a random attack, and it is believed that the general public is not at risk.
