Norwood PD Offer Gift Suggestions To Keep Drivers Eyes On Roads
In a cheeky Facebook post, the department suggested holiday gifts that will help keep drivers focus on the roads.

NORWOOD, MA — For those who are last-minute holiday shopping, the Norwood Police Department has some gift suggestions: something that keeps drivers eyes on the roads and off their phones. In a cheeky Facebook post, the department got into the holiday spirit while reminding residents to focus on the roads when driving.
The department suggests gifting someone a phone mount for their cars, that way they're able to use the hands-free mode on their phones without getting distracted while driving. The need for a phone mount comes after the government passed a law, going into effect on Feb. 23, that bans the use of a hand-held device while driving.
The law does allow drivers to use a single tap or swipe to turn on a hands-free feature, and to use navigation applications so long as the device is mounted to the windshield, dashboard or center console in a way that doesn't not impede driving.

"In other words, unless they never use Waze or mapping software while driving, EVERY driver will need a phone mount for their car," the post reads, "So how about a phone mount - or a gift card for one - for that friend or family member? Just a thought."
