Norwood Police Find Semi-Automatic Gun During Traffic Stop

A couple was pulled over for a report of a domestic incident and police ended up finding a semi-automatic handgun.

NORWOOD, MA — Norwood police arrested a couple on Wednesday night after finding an illegal gun in their car.

Police were responding to a report of a domestic incident in a moving car and stopped the car on Lenox Street. The driver was a 30-year-old Norwood man and the passenger was a 27-year-old Norwood woman.

Police said when the man was asked to step out of the car he wasn't initially cooperative but when he did get out, officers saw him signal to the woman. After seeing the signal, the woman grabbed something from the car and tried to walk away to the building nearby, according to police.

An officer saw she had grabbed a gun and stopped her, police said. They found a loaded high capacity semi-automatic handgun. The couple is facing several gun charges.
