Norwood Police Warn Residents of Recent House Breaks

The Norwood Police Department is requesting the public's assistance with a rash of recent residential house breaks.

Over the past six months, there have 44 homes broken into.

"Most have been in the north, northwest section of Norwood," said Officer Kevin Grasso in an email. "We have had several in the Monroe Street area, several in the Barberry Lane area, several in the Rock Street area, several in the Nahatan Street area near Rock Street."

According to Grasso, many of the breaks have occurred in the early evenings between 5-9 p.m. Others have occurred during daylight hours. Some are unknown because the residents had been away for an extended period of time.

The thieves have taken jewelry, cash, electronic devices, televisions and other valuables.

As of right now NPD does not have any suspects and is asking for assistance from residents.

"We have been encouraging the residents to call us with any suspicious person or activity they see," Grasso said. "It is important to call when this is happening and not delay. They could be saving a neighbor or themselves from becoming victims."

As for informing residents of the house breaks, there have been reverse 9-1-1 calls issued to residents in specific areas and information can be found on the department's website, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

"Be nosy watch your neighborhood and your neighbor's house, hopefully they are doing the same when you're not around. Call us with all suspicious activity," Grasso said.
