Norwood's Mike Giardi Lands NFL Network Gig

The Norwood native can now be seen on the league's channel after years of working for NBC Sports Boston.

NORWOOD, MA — Expect to see more of a certain Norwood native when you're watching the NFL Network.

Mike Giardi has accepted an offer to join the league-run channel. Giardi announced earlier this month that he was leaving NBC Sports Boston after nearly nine years with them, but where he was going was not revealed until this week.

The Norwood native's beat will not change. He told Chad Finn of the Boston Globe that he'll remain in Massachusetts with a focus on covering the Patriots.

Giardi got his start in sports journalism by covering local sports on Cape Cod before moving to NECN in 1999. He stayed there until 2009, when he joined the then-named Comcast SportsNet: New England. Most recently he became known for his Patriots coverage with now former co-workers Tom Curran and Phil Perry. He served as the host of Monday Night Patriots on the network since 2014,

Giardi is the latest Boston reporter to join the NFL Network. Albert Breer left the Boston Globe for the network and has since moved on to Sports Illustrated's MMQB. Former Boston Herald scribe Ian Rapoport is still employed by the network.
