Numerous Snow Days Test High School Construction
With three snow days on the books already things may have to get 'creative.'

With three snow days already the close of school date for Norwood schools has moved from June 17 to June 23, which is forcing all parties involved with the high school construction project to get a little "creative" according to Superintendent James Hayden.
The can extend the school year another six school days to June 30 without having to cut into other vacations or weekends, but for the high school the extra days don't simply mean less summer vacation. The new school construction project is scheduled to be finished in May, plenty of time to prepare teachers and administration to work in the new building. However the old building needs to be demolished before the finishing touches can be made on the facade, front landscaping and driveways to the new building.
"These recurring snow days test everyone's creativity and patience," Hayden said in an email. "We have confidence that all parties involved in the new high school project will pull together to make sure we can open on time for our high school students in September."

Hayden said the west wing of the old school will be the first to go to make way for the new driveway. The contractor would like to be starting on that part of the project as soon as school is over for the summer, he said.
According to the National Weather Service, Norwood should expect further wintery precipitation this weekend and again next Tuesday into Wednesday.
