Rosemary Anne (Walsh) Trainor, 89, of Norwood, died at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Saturday, April 25, 2015. Rosemary was a resident of Traditions Assisted Living in Dedham for the past 2 years. Prior to that, she resided with her husband, Frederick, in Walpole and East Dennis. She also enjoyed her winter home in Ft. Myers, Florida until Frederick’s death in 2005. Rosemary’s heart belonged to the Town of Norwood where she lived for many years and raised her family. Rosemary was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (O’Rourke) Walsh. She was raised in West Roxbury before moving to Norwood in 1953. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Jamaica Plainand worked as a service representative for New England Telephone in Brookline for several years.
Rosemary was the beloved wife of the late Frederick A. Trainor; the loving mother of Janet M. Hannon of Stoughton and her late husband William, Patricia A. Scollins of Norwood, and Joan M. and her husband, Steven Poggi of Hampstead, NH; the dear sister of Joan and her husband, Dr. Clement LaCoste of Southbridge; the cherished grandmother of Michael Gargiulo and his wife, Stephanie of Danvers, Nancy Gargiulo of Norwood, William Hannon and his wife, Leanne of Canton, Suzanne Flynn and her husband, Chris of Norwood, Kristen Mihalio and her husband, Mike of Franklin, Jenna Poggi and her fiancé, Dean Lees of Newmarket, NH and Gregory Poggi of Hamstead, NH; the proud great grandmother of Zachary, Joshua, Will, Lucy, Tommy and Molly; and the aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 30th, at 10:30 AM at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St. , Norwood. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 29th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
