Selectmen Suspend Acapulcos' Liquor License

They also placed a violation committed by Chipotle on file.

NORWOOD, MA — Acapulcos will be unable to serve alcohol for three days in June.

The selectmen voted 5-0 to suspend the Route 1 restaurant's liquor license for failing a recent compliance check, the second since late last year.

Restaurant representatives admitted that on April 15, one of their employees served an alcoholic drinks to an underage operative working with the Norwood Police Department. That worker has since been fired and replaced with a more experienced bartender.

While Chief William Brooks noted in a letter that the restaurant passed a compliance check earlier this month, the board demanded a near-perfect record from Acapulcos.

"I recognize the letter from the chief of police and that’s all well and fine but this isn’t two out of three or nine out of 10. You have to get it right every single time," Selectman Paul Bishop said.

Acapulcos will be without a liquor license June 8, 9, and 16, but will be able to remain open and serve food and non-alcoholic beverages. Selectman William Plasko voted for the suspension, despite feeling that the punishment may be too severe.

In other board activity, Chipotle Mexican Grill on Route 1 had a violation placed on file after an employee served an underage person a beer while ignoring a cash register prompt to check the license of the customer.
