Coming Soon To Peabody's Black Box Theater
Rock concert and dramatic reading scheduled for August

Two performances are scheduled for Peabody's Black Box Theater for the month of August.
First, there will be two staged reading performances of David Mamet's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Oleanna on August 17th and 18th. The reading will feature actor Steve Blackwood, known for his role on Days of Our Lives, who is now an acting coach based on the North Shore. Also appearing in the reading is acclaimed North Shore stage star Ashley Risteen. Oleanna dramatizes the power struggle that ensues between a university professor and female student who accuses him of sexual harassment. "Oleanna's power to provoke and shock has only intensified in the wake of #MeToo and the Time Up movements", says Blackwood.
Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:oo p.m. General admission price is $20 in advance, $22 at the door, and discounted tickets of $18 for seniors/students. Tickets can be purchased here.

Next up is a rock concert on August 25th featuring the bands Top Down and The Cosmic Vultures. Tickets are $10 and the event is for ages 18 or older. Top Down is a band formed in Peabody in late 2016 by Eddie Surman, Brian O'Connor, Dalton DeLima, and Stephen Damon-Tilley. The band was created to bring a party feel to Rock n' Roll and revive the days of shredding riffs and long hair. Top Down's sound comes from a variety of influences such as Van Halen, KISS, Def Leppard, Foo Fighters, Mr. Big and Alter Bridge. The band has played a variety of greater Boston venues including Hennessy's Hooley House, Opus Underground, and the Peabody International Festival.
Joining Top Down will be another up-and-coming local band, The Cosmic Vultures. They consist of band members Derek Smith, Steve Constantino, Jonathan Chesboro and Kevin Stanley. Check out some of their music here.
