PEABODY, MA — A North Shore pickleball tournament that raised enough money to buy more than 200 coats for those in need in 2018 and 2019 is eyeing a return for 2021.
Marisa Cole and Sue Carnevale organized the first two events at Collins Cove in Salem that raised enough money to buy 213 coats combined from LL Bean and Land's End for residents of Lynn, Swampscott, Marblehead, Salem and Beverly through SPUR Marblehead.
The Plummer Home in Salem was selected as a group distribution for young men in need of a warm winter coat as well.

While the coronavirus health crisis prevented a tournament last year, Cole and Carnevale are looking to find potential entrants and sponsors for a return to the courts for a good cause this year.
Cole, a Salem resident, began playing the budding sport in 2017 and Carnevale was the assistant regional director for USA Pickleball in 2018.
