Danvers, Peabody Route 128 Bridge Construction Over Waters Street

Overnight work on Wednesday will require a lane closure between Endicott Street and Route 114 and rolling roadblocks on southbound lanes.

PEABODY, MA — There will be temporary lane closures Wednesday night into Thursday on Route 128 on the Danvers/Peabody line as part of the bridge reconstruction project over Waters Rivers.

The closures are set to start about 6 p.m. and run through 5 a.m. That night's work will include the delivery and placement of bridge beams on the west side of Route 128 southbound.

The lane closures will require lane closures on Route 127 southbound between Endicott Street and Route 114.

A detour will be in place from Endicott Street to Route 128 South.

Drivers on Endicott Street westbound to Route 128 southbound will be detoured onto Route 114. Drivers on Endicott Street eastbound to Route 128 will be detoured to High Street to access Route 128 southbound.

There will be short-term rolling road blocks to deliver the beams between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Detour signs, traffic control devices and police details will be used to guide drivers through the work zone. Drivers should expect delays, reduce speeds and use caution.

The work is being conducted as part of a $24.7 million project to reconstruct the bridge carrying Route 128 over the Waters River.
