'Greetings From Peabody'

"Greetings from Peabody: The Art of Greeting Cards and Postcards, 1900-1960" opened last month at the Cassidy Museum and General Gideon Foster House. The exhibit is free to the public and includes Sunday hours from noon to 3 p.m. at 33 and 35 Washington St.
The exhibit features a wide array of antique greeting cards from the Historical Society's collection for such occasions as Easter, Christmas, Valentine's Day, birthdays and anniversaries. Learn how styles evolved from the elaborate and sentimental cards of the late Victorian Era, to the often humorous and "cartoonish" cards of the 1930s and 1940s.
