National Grid now expects service to be restored to all customers by 3 PM.

PEABODY, MA -- As many as 15,000 customers lost power on the North Shore Wednesday morning. National Grid said one of its transmission lines went out, leaving customers from Beverly to Lynnfield without power.

As of 2:15 pm Wednesday, National Grid was estimating that the 1,734 customers still without power would have service restored by 3:45 pm. The majority of those customers were in Beverly and Hamilton.

The outage wasn't limited to National Customers. About half of Peabody lost power, according to Peabody Muncipal Light Plant. At 11 am Wednesday the city-owned utility said it expected service to be restored in 45-60 minutes.
