Hollywood On Location In Peabody: The Definitive List

Peabody wants to make it easier for Hollywood to shoot in the city; here's the list of films and shows that have already shot in the city.

PEABODY, MA -- City officials are considering some zoning changes that would make it easier for producers to shoot films and television shows in Peabody. Proposed changes include allowing shooting by right in Centennial industrial park and streamlining the process for production companies to get rolling in Peabody. But the current zoning rules haven;t stopped these productions from filming in town.

Films

Who Do You Think Will Win (in production): Adam Sandler's made-for-Netflix film stars his old SNL buddy David Spade. According to Deadline Hollywood, the film "centers around the buffoonery that ensues when a playful debate between two buddies about whose father would win in a fight is taken seriously by one of the dads." Scenes were shot at the Roadhouse Pub on Pulaski Street last year after Danvers rejected the production's application to film there.

Patriots Day (2016): Mark Wahlberg's historical fiction version of the events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing used a Centennial Park warehouse to build film sets.

Katie Fforde films (multiple productions): Several film adaptations of the books by British romance novelist Katie Fforde have been shot in and around Peabody. Titles include "27" (2016), "28" (2016) "26" (2016), "Eine Leibe In New York (A Love in New York)" (2014), "Martha Dances" (2014), "Vergissmeinnicht (Forget Me Not)" (2014), and "Zuryck ans Meer (Back to the Ocean)" (2014).

Here Comes The Boom (2011): Latitude Sports Club on Route 1 took its star turn in the film starring Kevin James. James played a a high school physics teacher who becomes a mixed martial arts fighter to raise money for his school's music program.

I Hate You Dad (2011): The Adam Sandler film used the Cabaret strip club on Route 1. In the film, the club was called "Classy Rick’s Bacon & Leggs." The film used other locations in Peabody, including a Collins Street apartment complex.

Abracadabra (2001): The comedy short's tagline described it as "Four Goombahs from Boston's Little Italy find the woman of their dreams is packing ore than heat under her garter."

"The Retreat" (2001): The little-noticed film was released in 2004. Most of the production was on Cape Cod, but the Massachusetts Film Office lists Peabody as one of the filming locations.

Television Shows

This Old House (2010): For an episode that aired in 2011, "This Old House" general contractor Norm Abram interviewed the Window Woman of New England founder Alison Hardy for a segment that focuses on the restoration and repair of historic wooden windows.
