Multiple Shootings Mark Violent Night In Peabody: Reports

Two people were reportedly shot in separate locations in Peabody Thursday.

PEABODY, MA — A week that began with gunshots in Peabody escalated on Thursday when two people were shot in the city.

According to multiple reports, one of the shootings happened on Washington Street and the other occurred on Veterans Memorial Drive. (EDITOR'S NOTE: Police later clarified to Patch that both victims were injured at the same shooting location on Veterans Memorial Drive even though they were found in separate locations.)

WCVB-TV reported that the victim found on Washington Street victim suffered serious injuries, while the Veterans Memorial Drive victim suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The Washington Street victim, who was shot while in a car, was brought to Mass. General Hospital, while the Veterans Memorial Drive victim was brought to Salem Hospital.

This is the second shooting in the city in the past five days. Late Sunday morning, several rounds of ammunition were reported fired near 149 Main Street.

Police said at the time there was not believed to be an ongoing public threat.

Peabody Police Capt. Dennis Bonaiuto told Patch on Monday police were still investigating that incident.
