Obituary: John A. Guzofski, Past Secretary-Treasurer of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 1409 of Peabody
World War II veteran; he was recipient of three Bronze Stars.

John A. Guzofski, 89, beloved husband of the late Lillian (Donlon) Guzofski, died peacefully on Thursday July 9, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Anthony and Marion (McCarthy) Guzofski. He was a lifelong Peabody resident.

Mr. Guzofski, as part of our Greatest Generation, was proud of his patriotic duty with service in the United States Army during World War II. He was recipinet of three Bronze Stars and several other medals as a well-decorated veteran.
He was employed with Eastman Gelatin in Peabody for many years before retiring nearly 30 years ago.

John was a member and Past Secretary-Treasurer of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 1409 of Peabody. He was a strong supporter of the Special Olympics, enjoyed a quiet life at home with family as his main devotion.
He is survived by a son Kevin Guzofski of Peabody and daughter Mariann Guzofski of Beverly; four grandchildren, Lisa Grant, Ashley Guzofski, Deirdra Guzofski, and Kevin Guzofski, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Monica and Angela Grant, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by a son John Guzofski, a grandson Jason Guzofski, by brothers James and Robert Guzofski and sister Dorothy Ronan.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday July 13, 2015 for his Funeral Service at 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 – 5 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics, Attn: Memorial Gifts, 1133 19th St. NW, 12th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20036-3604.
