Firefighters Douse Blaze That Jumped From Car to Home

The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it doesn't indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from June 2-3.

Sunday, June 2

  • 2:03 p.m. a caller reported fireworks being shot off in the area of Sanborn Street. 
  • 2:07 p.m. a caller reported a minor brush fire near the Chipotle Mexican Grill on Andover Street. The fire was put out by a few parties. 
  • 4:09 p.m. a motor vehicle accident was reported on Pound Lane. A caller reported that a car struck a tree. 
  • 4:18 p.m. a mulch fire was reported at Direct Tire on Andover Street. The fire was extinquished by Peabody Police Department. 
  • 6:02 p.m. Victoria's Secret reports a shoplifter that got away with roughly $300 worth of merchandise. 
  • 7:20 p.m. a caller reported that he is being threatened on Hancock Street. Police eventually arrested Edwin Pena, 39, of 231 Elmwood Ave., Apt. 2, Lynn. Pena was charged with disorderly conduct. 

Monday, June 3

  • 8:20 a.m. a pick up truck fire was reported on Newbury Street. Police could not locate the vehicle. 
  • 8:42 a.m. a caller reported a car fire that has jumped to the house on Warren Street Extension. The Fire Department quickly extinquished the blaze. 
  • 10:42 p.m. an employee reported a motor vehicle stolen on Summit Street. The vehicle was recovered by the Lynn Police Department. Some items were taken from the vehicle. 
  • 12:27 p.m. Newbury Comics reported approximately $30 worth of merchandise that was stolen from the store.
