Peabody Breaks Ground At Crystal Lake
To commemorate work beginning at Crystal Lake, officials attended a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday.
PEABODY, MA – City and state officials gathered on Wednesday to celebrate the beginning of the Crystal Lake dredging. The decades-old project has officially started, with the intention of making it usable again.
Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt has previously credited former State Rep. Joyce Spiliotis for pursuing the project. Spiliotis secured $800,000 in 2006 for the Crystal Lake project, and that money will go toward the work today.
The city will remove tons of sediment from the basin to clear the water, and will add amenities like a picnic area for families to enjoy.
