Peabody Couple at B&N Today With New Children's Book Series

Here's what you need to know today in Peabody.

Today is Wednesday, Nov. 13. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. Peabody couple Chuck and Jamie Freedman have authored a new children's book series, called "The Plow Family Adventures," which were inspired by their childhood hometown. The Freedmans will be at Barnes & Noble Wednesday 11 a.m. for a reading and book signing.
  2. The Bishop Fenwick Crusaders' volleyball team begins its run in the state championship series Wednesday night against Notre Dame Academy of Hingham. The semi-final game in Division 2 will be played at Tewksbury High School (7 p.m.).
  3. Cable hearings: The mayor's office says that due to scheduling and preparation concerns, the Peabody Cable Television Public Ascertainment Hearings scheduled for Nov. 13 and 20 are being postponed until a later date. New dates will be advertised as soon as they are available. For more information on the public hearings, call the Mayor’s Office at 978-538-5704.
  4. Hank Phillippi Ryan was the guest speaker at the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner last week and she'll be back in Peabody again Thursday at the Peabody Institute Library for a special book signing and conversation about her newest crime novel, "The Wrong Girl."
  5. The Peabody High drama club Stage One presents "Our Town," starting Thursday. Shows run through Friday and Saturday.
  6. Bishop Fenwick High School is also hosting an open house for prospective students Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
