Peabody To Host Coronavirus Vaccination Clinic Thursday

The city, which continues to be on the state's "high risk" list for community virus spread, will host the clinic at the Council on Aging.

PEABODY, MA — Peabody will offer residents, as well as those who work and worship in the city, a chance to get vaccinated against the coronavirus Thursday at the Council on Aging on Central Street.

The Peabody Health Department is running the clinic in conjunction with North Shore Community Health.

"We have received a small allocation of vaccine that we have set aside for Peabody residents or those who work or worship in Peabody," the Health Department said.

The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. using the Moderna vaccine. Because it is Moderna, only those 18 years old and older are eligible.

The city was listed as a red "high risk" community for virus spread in the latest state report released on Thursday. Peabody was listed with 31.5 cases per 100,000 people and a positive test rate of 4.3 percent in a 14-day rolling average.

Both metrics were higher week over week and higher than the state average. In the previous state report from April 15, Peabody had 29.6 cases per 100,000 residents and a positive test rate of 3.97 percent.

As of Sunday, the statewide positive test rate on a seven-day rolling average was 1.73 percent.

The city reported 274 new positive cases over 14 days leading up to Thursday.
