Peabody Household Hazardous Waste Day Set For June
The Department of Public Works will host the event on June 5 for residents and non-residents.
PEABODY, MA — Many hazardous household items that have taken up space for more than a year can be disposed of at the Peabody Department of Public Services on June 5.
The annual household hazardous waste day will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farm Avenue site for residents and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for non-residents. The event will be rain or shine with maximum disposal being 25 pounds or 25 gallons per household.
This event is for individual households only and not contractors.

Clean Harbors Environmental Services will accept oil-based paints (no latex paint), varnishes, pesticides, spray cans and other household hazardous chemicals, mercury-containing waste, including batteries, thermometers, thermostats and fluorescent lamps.
Waste oil, car batteries and propane tanks can be dropped off year-round during normal business hours. The general recycling center will be closed that day.

Residents are allowed to drop off waste oil, car batteries, tires, and propane tanks during normal business hours year round at 50 Farm Avenue. The recycling center (including leaf/brush drop off) will be closed on Household Hazardous Waste Day.
Clean Harbors will not be accepting commercial/industrial waste, latex paint, ammunition, asbestos, radioactive material, fire extinguishers, or medical or biological wastes.
Residents can pay $20 per household with a check payable to City of Peabody. Proof of residency is required. TVs and monitors will also be accepted with the purchase of one $20 sticker, which will be available on-site, per item.
Non-residents will be charged a sliding scale of $30 for up to 3 gallons, $36 for up to 10 pounds or gallons and $60 for up to 25 pounds or gallons.
Items should be left in their original containers with caps tightly sealed on liquid containers and placed in sturdy upright boxes.
All coronavirus-related protocols, including masking, will be followed. Anyone who is having COVID-related symptoms or has been exposed to someone who tests COVID-positive should not attend.
