PEABODY, MA – Peabody has become the 10th city or town in Massachusetts to join the AARP Network of Age Friendly Communities, an affiliate of the World Health Organization Global Network.

Joining the network is a commitment to create an environment that promotes healthy and active aging and a good quality of life for older residents. According to a press release announcing the move, the city will assess its age friendliness over the next five years, and create and implement a three-year action plan.

Peabody will partner with the UMass Boston Gerontology Institute and AARP Massachusetts to accomplish those goals.
