Peabody Man Charged With Having Stolen, Loaded Gun: State Police
State Police said a stolen pistol, along with pills believed to be Ecstacy, were found during a traffic stop on I-95 in Salisbury.

PEABODY, MA — A Peabody man, who was wanted on a warrant for firearms violations and assault and battery on a police officer, was also charged with illegal firearm possession and driving violations after State Police said a loaded pistol was found during a highway stop in Salisbury early Sunday morning.
Police said they found Marqus Mitchell, 37, of Peabody, had an outstanding felony warrant for multiple firearms and narcotics charges as well as assault and battery on a police officer, after they pulled over a red Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving erratically around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.
Police said Mitchell was arrested 0n the outstanding warrants and the Jeep was searched. Trooper Stephen Connor said he found a loaded Mossberg 9mm pistol that was reported stolen in July.

Khalid Mitchell, 26, of Brockton, a passenger in the Jeep was searched when a powdery substance police said was believed to be Ecstasy was found.
Marqus Mitchell was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, receiving stolen property, operating a vehicle with a revoked license and marked lanes violations.

Khalid Mitchell was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a Class B drug, receiving stolen property and a marked lanes violation.
Bail was set for $100,000 for both men, who were arraigned at Newburyport District Court.
