Peabody Mayor Looks To Replace Faded Road Signs

PEABODY, MA – Is there a faded street sign near your house? Mayor Ted Bettencourt wants to know about it.

Bettencourt is crowdsourcing information on the location of faded and outdated signs – not including signs identifying the name of the street, which are regularly changed. Residents can send in the location of different signs, or comment directly on the mayor's Facebook post announcing the initiative.

As for what happens to retired signs, that's still a mystery. We know at least some of them end up in college freshmen dorm rooms.
