Peabody Native Up For NCAA Woman Of The Year
After graduating from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, went on to excel on the track and in the classroom at UMass-Amherst

PEABODY, MA -- Heather MacLean, a Peabody native and senior at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, is one of 30 track and field athletes nominated for the NCAA's Woman of the Year Award. The award recognizes women who excel in the sport, academics and as members of their community.
"Heather's achievements in high school and college have made her among the very best. She exemplifies Peabody Pride," Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt said in a Facebook post announcing the recognition.
At UMass, MacLean is a three-time All American and holds seven individual school records, as well as four records as a member of relay teams. At Peabody High, MacLean broke school records in the 400 and 800.
